Assam: Group of students regularly feed poor people amid lockdown

Guwahati, May 10: Amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown, many students have come forward to feed the poor and needy regularly, in Assam. Across the country, people have been facing many difficulties to survive and many others have extended their supports to the poor and needy people during the crisis hours of COVID-19.

A group of students of the Rangapara area in Assam’s Sonitpur district has come forward to help the poor and needy people.

The students feed many poor and needy people daily amid the lockdown in Assam, which was announced by the government.

About 200 poor and needy people are being fed regularly at NF Railway Mazdoor Union, Rangapara branch premises by the student groups under the guidance of some railway officials.

Some locals said that nobody from the government side has come to visit the same to encourage these dynamic youths engaged in great work towards humanity carrying a banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with them.

Puja Choudhury and Puja Sahani who are active members of this feeding drive said that they are helped and encouraged by some officials of the NF Railway Mazdoor Union, Rangapara and some other local people to continue this special feeding drive.

“We cooked the meal for these needy people at home regularly and distributed it among them by following all guidelines issued by government,” Puja Choudhury said.

On the other hand, Puja Sahani said that, they must help the needy people during the crisis hours.
