Coronavirus lockdown: 391 Assam students finally reached in Guwahati from Kota

Guwahati, April 27: After a long journey 391 students from Assam who were stranded in Rajasthan’s Kota had finally reached in Guwahati early on Monday morning.

Amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the students had reached at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati early on Monday morning who started their journey from Kota in 17 buses on April 24.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and state junior health minister Pijush Hazarika had received them at Sarusajai stadium at around 3 am.

Interacting with the students, Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma told the students about the norms of 14-day mandatory quarantine which they need to observe now after a long journey back to Assam from Kota, Rajasthan.

The Assam Health minister also said that, the state health department will conduct swab tests of the students.

It is to be mentioned that, the Assam government on April 23 had air-dropped eight police officers to Kota to facilitate the return trip of the stranded students of Assam.

The eight police officers who accompanied the students were also sent to 14-day mandatory quarantine.
