Mizoram to open schools for a new session on July 15:

The government of Mizoram has decided to open schools for the new academic session on July 15, an official said.

A meeting with the stakeholders and the concerned departments was conducted. The Education minister Lalchhandama Ralte chaired the meeting. It was unanimously decided that the educational institutions under the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE). The admission procedure for the students of Class 11 will begin on June 22.

The decision of preparing a new school calendar for the 2020-21 academic session which will be effective from April 2020 to March 2021 was also taken. The body is unwilling to omit any lesson or chapter in the syllabus. They expect to complete the syllabus in the given time of the school calendar. The time allotted for each lesson, however, will be reduced.

A lesson plan will be chalked out for the Higher Secondary students separately. That will be prepared following the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) calendar. It needs to be minutely figured out as the students are yet to take the NEET or JEE examinations.

Lalchhandama Ralte informed in the meeting that all school buildings which were used for quarantine facilities are expected to be vacated and sanitized by July 15. This will make it easier for students to go to their respective schools.

Mr Ralte’s letters to the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister and Chief Executive and Secretary of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have proved to be fruitful. The HRD ministry, hence, issued an order that allowed the students of Class 10 and 12 to take their pending board examinations in their preferred centre.

“The CISCE will also set up an exam centre at Government Mizo High School in Aizawl.”, Lalchhandama Ralte was quoted by the official.
