Assam: Chief Minister Sonowal inspects quarantine camps

May 27, 2020: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inspects quarantine camps on Sunday, which is set up at the Murkong Selek College, Jonai in Dhemaji district, and Sivasagar Primary Health Centre in Demow, Sivasagar district.

The Chief Minister presided over a meeting with senior officials of the Dhemaji district administration along with various other departments at Jonai and reviewed arrangements for quarantine facilities and COVID-19 screenings.

“We will fight against coronavirus together… I appeal to everyone including those in home quarantine or institutional quarantine to obey the rules and regulations laid down by the state. If rules are not maintained, it’ll bring down a calamity on everyone.” he said. He also emphasized on the importance of social distancing, cleanliness, usage of masks and other health equipment.

He tweeted sharing his experience of the visit, “With the spike in #COVID19 cases, setting up of more quarantine centers has become the need of the hour.

Today, as I visited the quarantine camp at Murkong Selek College, Jonai to assess facilities, asked the officials and staff to provide the best services to the people.”

On his way back from Jonai he stopped to interact with workers in a manufacturing unit.

“On my way back to Dibrugarh from Jonai, visited a Paver Block manufacturing unit and interacted with the workers.

As Assam fights a resolute war against #COVID19, I was inspired by the motivation of the workers and urged them to carry forward maintaining social distancing.”, he tweeted.

About his visit to Sivasagar Primary Health Centre, he informed that the government has stepped up tests and quarantine facilities to ensure the breakage of the transmission chain.

 “Our Govt has stepped up testing, tracing and quarantine processes to break the #COVID19 transmission chain.

Visited a quarantine facility at Demow, Sivasagar district, and took stock of arrangements made by the authorities.” he tweeted.

He also took to Twitter to thank the media for their efforts and cooperation.
