Assam sees highest single-day spike with 269 COVID-19 positive cases, state tally rises to 1830

Guwahati, June 4: Assam on Wednesday has witnessed the highest single-day spike in the numbers of COVID-19 positive cases as 269 positive cases for the new virus detected in the state in the last 24 hours.

With the new cases, the state tally has now increased to 1830.

Out of the new cases, 125 positive cases for the novel Coronavirus have been reported from Dhubri district while 30 cases reported from Dima Hasao, 20 from Hojai, 18 each from Golaghat, Nagaon, 14 from Biswanath district, 13 from Darrang, 10 from Dibrugarh, seven from Karimganj, four from Lakhimpur, three each from Kamrup, Sonitpur, two each from the airport, Udalguri, one case from Cachar.

Confirming the report, Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “74 new cases of #COVID19+. 59 Dhubri, 14 Nagaon, 1 Udalguri. Total cases 1830.”

Earlier, on May 29, the state had registered 177 positive cases for the new virus.

Assam has so far registered 1830 COVID-19 positive cases and out of these, 413 patients were discharged from hospitals earlier in the state.

Assam has now 1410 active positive cases for COVID-19.
