With 168 new positive cases for COVID-19 Assam tally reaches to 1384:

Guwahati, June 1: Assam has reported 168 new positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours taking the state tally to 1384.

The new cases have been reported from Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Charaideo, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Karimganj, Kamrup, Golaghat, Baksa, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Udalguri, Dhubri, Nalbari, Darrang districts.

According to the Assam government data, out of the total cases detected in the state so far, 1292 positive cases for COVID-19 have been detected in the state after May 4.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, out of the total cases, 36 cases were found directly linked with Tablighi Jammat.

“We have found 36 cases of Tablighi Jamaat, 32 cases of the contract tracing of Tablighi Jamaat. 24 such cases have been found in Assam that they have no travel history,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He further said that most of the cases have been found in the state that, the people came from outside of the state.

“We have found 333 cases that the people of Assam came from Tamil Nadu, 312 from Maharashtra, 134 from Delhi, 111 from West Bengal, 57 each from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, 31 from Rajasthan, 24 from Karnataka, 25 from Telanga,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

On the other hand, Assam has registered 969 COVID-19 positive cases in the last seven days that means around 71 per cent cases in the state have been detected within a week.

According to the state government data, 156 positive cases for COVID-19 were detected in the state on May 25, 134 cases on May 26, 101 cases on May 27, 97 cases on May 28, 177 cases on May 29, 159 cases on May 30 and 145 cases on May 31.
