Sonowal seeks steps by Centre in managing the border issues

Assam, 8th November: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal sought steps by the centre to maintain peace and harmony along with the border issues.

Sonowal even called Union Home Minister on Saturday seeking necessary from Central government over the situation. He assured Amit Shah about that the state would follow the directives by the Centre to manage the border situation.

Tension along the Assam-Mizoram increased after miscreants from Mizoram allegedly hurled a bomb at a school in the Upper Painom village near Hawaithang in south Assam’s Cachar district on Friday night.

At a meeting held at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, the Chief Minister reviewed the present situation of the border issues. Chief secretary Jishnu apprised the chief minister about the current problems regarding the Assam-Mizoram border. DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta informed him about the steps taken for keeping law and order situation in control. Sonowal directed the top officials to maintain peace and harmony in the border region.

While on the other hand, Tripura CM has urged his Mizoram counterpart to take up the Fuldangsei issue with the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA). He said, “If anybody has any objection over a particular area of the inter-State border, the concerned individual or State can approach the MHA to check the geographical map of the spot.

Stating that there should not be any issues over territory within the country, he said, ” Under the federal structure, the MHA is the competent authority to check the geographical area of a particular area. Everybody should respect the inter-State border prepared by the competent authority.”
