Police punished weekend lockdown violators to do sit-ups in Assam Goalpara

Guwahati, July 4: Assam police found a unique way to teach lessons to the COVID-19 lockdown violators.

In a video, some police personnel were seen to give punishment to the weekend lockdown as to do sit-ups in Assam’s Goalpara district.

According to the reports, Goalpara district police personnel caught some people who violated weekend lockdown orders and didn’t wear mask also.

The lockdown violators were made to do sit-ups as punishments.

Following a sharp spike in the numbers of COVID-19 positive cases, the Assam government has announced 14-day total lockdown in Guwahati city and Kamrup (Metro) district from June 28 and weekend lockdown in the municipal and town committee areas in the other districts of the state.

In the video, the police personnel were also seen to provide face masks among the violators.

Assam has registered 9799 COVID-19 positive cases so far.

The state has reported 365 positive cases for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.
