Meghalaya COVID update

Meghalaya, 16th October: 153 people tested positive for COVID in Meghalaya. The total number of cases rise to 7,924. The death toll increases by 2 and stands at 70. 176 patients have recovered today, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 5,582. There are 2,339 active cases in the state.

Of the 153 new cases, 104 are from the East Khasi Hills region, 25 from West Garo Hills, 11 from Ri Bhoi, 1 from West Jaintia Hills, 6 from East Garo Hills district, six from North Garo Hills and 1 from South West Khasi Hills district. Of the 104 cases from East Khasi Hills, there is one who belongs to the Armed and paramilitary forces.

Confirming these numbers, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma tweeted:
