With 2372 new cases Assam COVID19 tally rises to 76,875

Guwahati, Aug 17: Assam has registered 1317 fresh positive cases for COVID19 in the last 24 hours and with the new cases, the state tally has now surged to 76,875.

Out of the new cases, 233 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro) district, 161 cases detected in Cachar district and 133 cases in Dibrugarh district.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state has tested 20367 samples for COVID-19 in last 24 hours and 1317 positive cases detected and the positivity rate is 6.46 per cent.

On the other hand, seven more patients have died due to the deadly virus infections in the state in the last 24 hours taking the state death toll to 189.

Assam has now 21,468 active positive cases for COVID19  from the 76,875 tally.
