Two back to back earthquake in 12 hrs rock Mizoram; Nagaland experiences tremor too

As informed by the National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale has been recorded in Mizoram at 4.10 AM on Monday.

It’s epicentre was 27km South South West of Champai in Mizoram.

Another earthquake of 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale was reported on Sunday around 4.16 PM 25 km East-Northeast of Aizawl.

No casualties have been reported so far and damage assessment is being conducted by the local authorities.

Informing about the incident Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted, “Two earthquakes rocked #Mizoram within a span of 12 hours.

Damage assessment undertaken by concerned MLA and district administration.

Fortunately, no casualties reported so far.

Another tremor of 2.8 magnitude measured on the Richter scale was felt East Northeast of Kohima in Nagaland at 12.40 PM on Monday.
