Tripura records the coldest temperature this season

Tripura, Dec 20: Tripura has recorded the coldest temperature this season, with the mercury plummeting to 6.9 degrees Celsius in Agartala in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The highest temperature recorded during the day was 24.6 degrees Celsius, which was about 0.8 degree Celsius below the normal.

The Met department said this was the lowest temperature recorded during December in the state for the last few years.

Clear skies and the unobstructed flow of cold winds from the Himalayas are bringing down the temperature.

According to the agro-meteorological department of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Tripura Centre, the state had recorded the same temperature on January 13th of 2013 after which there was no record of such fall in temperature.

The cold conditions are set to prevail across the state in the next week, and there is a chance of further drop in temperature on January 12th or 13th unless there comes a local disturbance in the weather cycle.
