The First wave of flood has hit Assam

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, first wave of flood-hit Assam:

Guwahati, May 22: Amid the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the first wave of flood has hit Assam as floodwaters have submerged many villages in the state.

Many rivers in the state are overflowing following torrential rainfall in Assam and other neighboring states in the past 48 hours.

On Friday morning, a portion of PWD road near Kanpur area in Assam’s Nagaon district had washed away by floodwaters of Borpani river.

The First wave of flood has hit Assam

Many villages and several hectares of croplands in the area have been submerged by floodwaters.

The floodwaters of the Borpani river also entered into many houses in the area.

On the other hand, many villages, croplands have been submerged by floodwaters of the Ronganadi river in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur district also.

The state has now faced another challenge at a time when the state is fighting against the COVID-19.

91 people died and more than five million people affected in last year flood in Assam.
