GTABA welcomes the government’s decision to allow GTAC to resume tea auctions.
Guwahati, April 16: Tea Auctions to be resumed in Assam. Guwahati Tea Auction Buyer’s Association (GTABA) has welcomed the Assam Governments decision to allow Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GATC) it’s constituents to resume their offices and operate in auctions.
It will help all the seller members who want to sell their tea immediately at GTAC because due to lockdown they were unable to open their factories and recently the Tea industry has allowed them to resume operations and they have produced their tea’s and dispatched to GTAC.
GTABA Secretary Dinesh Bihani said that, this will be very helpful to reduce their cash crunch and solve their problem of cash liquidity to some extent.
“Regarding price front, we think the market will open with strong demand and firm prices and might be on dearer rates because the last two months there have been hardly any tea sold in Auctions. At present the pipeline is empty and until the full-fledged production has started the prices may be on a higher side,” Dinesh Bihani said.
He further said that, hope that tea producers will make good quality tea so they get strong demand and better realization.
