Sivasagar police gun down most wanted criminal Bubu Konwar in an encounter

Guwahati, June 24: Most wanted criminal Bubu Konwar gunned down in an encounter with Assam police at Geleki area in Sivasagar district of Assam on Wednesday.

As per police reports, supari killer Bubu Konwar was engaged in multiple criminal activities for the past 22 years, which includes 42 cases of murder, 30 kidnapping cases, several cases of extortion, and car theft.

Konwar was shot dead by the police after he tried to flee from the spot. 

Bubu Konwar, a dreaded criminal, had as many as 14 cases registered against him in different police stations in the Sivasagar district alone, including a murder case.

Konwar and another person were travelling in a two-wheeler in Geleky when the police asked the duo to stop. But they opened fire on the police team. In retaliatory firing by the police, Babu Konwar sustained bullet injury and was declared brought dead by the doctors in Geleky civil hospital,” the Sivasagar SP informed.

During the operation, the police team recovered one pistol, one magazine, five live ammunition, four fired ammunition, two mobile handsets, one lighter, cash Rs 1100, 10 plastic containers containing suspected drugs, one two-wheeler vehicle, one helmet from his possession.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Special DGP Assam police GP Singh said, “The said Bubu Konwar succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at Geleky Civil Hospital.”

According to reports, Konwar was booked under National Security Act (NSA) in 2013 and over 45 cases in total were registered against him in different police stations across Assam.

Bubu Konwar was arrested by the Jorhat Police in March in connection with a drug-dealing case. Contraband items were recovered from his possession then. Sivasagar police gun down most wanted criminal Bubu Konwar in an encounter.
