Sikkim braces up to open for tourism from October

Sikkim, September 21: Sikkim government is ready to open for tourism from 1st October without any registration. Sikkim government has also permitted hotel and homestay for tourists from 10th October onwards.

However the Gangtok Municipal corporation (GMC) area will be under complete lockdown for 7days with effective from 21st September, to contain the spread of COVID 19.

A notification from principal secretary on Saturday stated that “it has been decided to allow free interstate movements of the people without any requirements of registration with effect from October 1st and also permit hotels, homestay, and other tourism-related services to operate from October 10th”. The health ministry will issue fresh COVID 19 guidelines for free interstate movement. Also, inner Line Permits for foreign tourist with valid visas shall be issued from October 10th.

The Tourism Ministry Sikkim, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, will issue Standard Operations of tourism-related services helicopter service shall resume regular operations from October 1.
