Sexual harassment case reported in Sikkim University

Sikkim, March 10: A sensational alleged sexual harassment case has reported in the Sikkim University. A PhD scholar of the varsity has accused an Assistant Professor of sexual harassment.

The accused professor has been identified as Ram Bhawan Yadav of the English Department. The victim has filed a complaint with the University authorities.

According to the victim, the accused professor – Ram Bhawan Yadav had sexually harassed her by making false promises of marrying her.

The victim’s complaint is being looked into by the Internal Complaint Committee of the Sikkim University.

Notably, this the third case of sexual harassment reported from the varsity in the Himalayan State since 2018.

Sikkim University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Avinash Khare said that the investigation by the internal complaints committee would take about a month to submit its report. “We have zero-tolerance against sexual harassment,” the VC said.

Last year, Silajit Guha, a professor in the Mass Communication Department of the Sikkim University was suspended after a female student accused him of Sexual harassment.
