Schools in Mizoram up to Class 12 will continue to remain closed

Mizoram, May 13: The schools in Mizoram for all classes from pre-primary to Class 12 will continue to remain closed due to the lockdown being imposed in the state to prevent the spread of Covid19.

As per the school calendar, schools for the new academic session 2021-2022 were scheduled to open on May 4.

According to a notification, issued by the state school education department on Wednesday, the opening of schools in the new academic session 2021-2022 for all classes (Pre-primary to class 12) shall continue to be suspended until further order.

School admission can be undertaken through the online system, the notification said.

It said online classes will be taken up wherever possible during the suspension period of normal classes and all schools or institutions should be strictly followed the prescribed norms for conducting online classes.

The 4-Week Alternative Academic Calendar for Elementary Schools in Mizoram prepared in 2020-2021 by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will be used by all elementary schools, it said.

The Week-Wise Plan for Secondary and Higher Secondary schools prepared by the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) will be utilised by all secondary and higher secondary schools during the suspension of normal classes, the notification added.

Meanwhile, an official said the results of Classes 10 and 12 board examinations held in April are scheduled to be declared by next month.

Almost a year after being closed due to the spread of Covid19, schools for students of Classes 10 and 12 were re-opened in January this year and that of Class 9 in February.

For students of Classes 5 to 8, schools were opened in March and for Classes 3 and 4 in April.

However, schools for Classes 5 to 8 were closed again from April 10 and all educational institutions were closed from April 20.
