Rahul Gandhi to address 3 rallies, release Congress manifesto in Assam: Source

Assam, March 19: To boost Congress campaign momentum in Assam, Rahul Gandhi will address three rallies in the poll-bound state starting Friday and release the party manifesto on Saturday, as per the source.

Since the declaration of election dates, this will be Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to the poll-bound Assam.

During his 2-day visit, Rahul Gandhi will address three election rallies in Upper Assam and Northern Assam.

Rahul Gandhi interacted with college students at Lahowal in Dibrugarh district on Friday morning and was later slated to meet tea garden workers at Dinjoy tea estate in Chabua.

Rahul Gandhi will also address his first election rally at Doomdooma in Tinsukia district on Friday since the declaration of poll dates.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi will address two election rallies at Mariani in Jorhat district and Gohpur in Sonitpur district.

Rahul Gandhi will also release the Congress election manifesto at Assam Pradesh Congress Office on Saturday.

Earlier on February 14, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district and said that his party will never accept the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and will not allow anyone to implement it.

At the meeting, Rahul Gandhi also announced that Congress will give Rs 365 to every tea garden worker of Assam if his party comes to power.

The Congress party has announced five ‘guarantees’ for the assembly the election in Assam, which are a law that nullifies the CAA, 5 lakh government jobs, raising tea workers’ wages to Rs 365, free electricity up to 200 units per household and Rs 2,000 monthly income support to all housewives.
