Meghalaya, September 21: To limit the spread of COVID-19 infection in the East Khasi Hills region, the government of Meghalaya has imposed a night curfew. The night curfew will be in effect from September 21. The order was issued by East Khasi Hills District Magistrate Isawanda Laloo. This is reportedly in effect till September 29, until stated otherwise and will be in action from 9 pm to 5 am. Previously, the night curfew was in action till August 24.
Vehicles engaged in emergency services and state and central government officials concerned are exempted from the purview of the curfew order but drivers and their helpers will be screened.
However the order will not apply to security forces, medical teams and officials on Covid-19 duty, wholesale and retail pharmacies, police and armed forces, fire and emergency services, MeECL, NEEPCO and Power Grid, FCI vehicles, Officers and Staff of Corona care centre, Press, Print and electronic, Information and Public Relations Department and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd(NHIDCL).
Shops for the repair of trucks on highways are also exempted. However, it is mentioned that these exemptions do not apply to the containment zones until stated otherwise.
