New COVID-19 cases from Assam and Manipur

Assam reports four new COVID-19 positive cases and Manipur registers one fresh case:

Guwahati, May 17: New COVID-19 cases from Assam and Manipur. Assam has registered four more COVID-19 positive cases which led the state total tally to 95.

Among the four new cases, two cases have been reported from Guwahati and one each case from Sonitpur and Sivasagar.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, in Guwahati, one patient was detected at Kalapahar quarantine center and another was detected at the Fatashil Ambari area.

On the other hand, one young boy hailing from Sivasagar district who is at Jorhat quarantine center tested positive for COVID-19 and another patient is hailing from Sonitpur district.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “On May 16 NIGHT, 4 more #COVID19 + cases were detected – 2 from Guwahati, 1 each from Sonitpur & Sivasagar, taking total cases to 95; active 50. Given, developing a situation, I urge the elderly (65+) & children below 10 to strictly stay inside, unless very important.”

Assam has so far reported 95 COVID-19 positive cases including 36 cases from Kamrup (Metro), 11 cases from Cachar district, nine cases from Golaghat district, six cases each from Morigaon, Goalpara districts, five cases each from Dhubri, Bongaigaon districts, four cases from Nalbari district, three cases from Jorhat district, two cases each from Karimganj and Kamrup districts and one each from South Salmara, Lakhimpur, Hailakandi, Sonitpur, Sivasagar and Kokrajhar district.

Out of them two COVID-19 patients died and 41 others were discharged from hospitals and the state has now 50 active COVID-19 positive cases.

Two patients were migrated to Bihar and West Bengal.

On the other hand, Manipur has registered one more COVID-19 positive case taking the state tally to 7.

A 22-year-old girl hailing from Churachandpur who recently returned to the state from Chennai was tested positive.
