Nainital Mall Road flooded

Dehradun, October 19: A shocking incident of cloudburst has been reported in Nainital district’s Ramgarh village as incessant rains continue to batter Uttarakhand for the third consecutive day, Nainital Mall Road flooded, Naini Lake overflows as heavy rain hits the state. Several people are feared trapped.

Meanwhile, water from the Naini Lake in Nainital, one of the main tourist attractions in the hilly state, has overflowed its banks, flooding the iconic Mall Road that runs parallel to the lake.

Nainital, along with several other districts of Uttarakhand, has been receiving incessant rainfall for over 24 hours. Earlier, visuals of Nainital Mall Road flooded due to the overflowing lake went viral on the internet.

Meanwhile, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across Uttarakhand remained shut, while a ban has been imposed on trekking, mountaineering, and camping activities in the high altitude areas of the state.

The district-level Khel Mahakumbh events scheduled to be held at parade and pavilion grounds in Dehradun on October 18-19 will now be held on October 24-25.
