Nagaland education department launches online portals

Kohima, September 23: Principal Secretary of Nagaland Education department, Menukhol John launched the Online Teachers’ Transfer Portal, Teacher’s Portal and the Child Protection Policy for School while State Mission Director Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, Kevileno launched the School Safety and Security Pledge and Guidelines at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima on Wednesday.

Menukhol John said that, with the launch of the various online portals, the department has taken a giant leap towards the welfare education system in the State and further stated that the commissioning of Online Transfer Portal will ensure the required staff strength for all schools and expected vacancy positions will be worked out well in advance.

He pointed out that detail of vacancy positions will be made available in the public domain which will bring transparency in the functioning of the department and will also ensure that normal functioning schools do not get disturbed due to transfers affected in middle of academic year.

The Principal Secretary also informed that the Teacher’s Portal will reduce the gap between the authorities and teachers in one hand and will improve work culture among teachers and officers on the other hand. Subsequently, all employees under the Department of School Education Nagaland will gradually be brought under the ambit of monitoring through the Teacher’s APP and this will eventually lead to the change of face of the Department of School Education in the State of Nagaland, he added.

Principal Director of state Education department, Shanavas C while giving a brief presentation on the portals stated that a separate Teachers’ Online Transfer Portal has been made available at the departmental website, where teachers can log in using their Registered Mobile Number and OTP obtained through it.

He explained that the portal will display their present employment details and cadre vacancy position available throughout the State and can select two preferred posting places from the existing vacancy position.

A prescribed ‘Forwarding Letter’ format will be made available at the portal which is to be completed and signed by the School Head, VEC Chairman and SDEO/DEO and the officials will be required to mention whether they recommend the transfer sought by the teacher or not along with comments/remarks.

Teachers seeking transfer need to upload a scanned copy of the Forwarding Letter and submit their application at the portal. An acknowledgement will be generated indicating successful submission of the application. The department will process all the applications received during the given period and issue bulk Transfer Orders, he added.

Shanavas C also stated that the newly launched Teacher’s Portal will help teachers connected to the required online education resources with ease and keep teachers updated with latest developments in the field of education.

He also said that the Teacher’s Portal will have a link where teachers will have to upload pages of Teacher’s Diary where School Heads append their signatures with date. The uploaded pages with GPS Tracking which showing Date, Time & Location of the Teacher’s Diary will be automatically forwarded to District level officers & Directorate, he added. The Teacher’s Portal will also serve as a direct communication channel between the Directorate, District Level Officers and Teachers.

State Mission Director Samagra Shiksha, Kevileno hoped that the Child Protection Policy and School Safety and Security Pledge and Guidelines will come in handy and useful for the welfare and protection of children across the state and the people in general.
