Mizoram, July 18: Mizoram reported 463 new coronavirus cases including one more COVID-19 fatality in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s COVID-19 tally to 27,153, a health official said on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 121 as one more patient succumbed to the virus on Saturday, he said.

On the fresh cases, 73 cases were confirmed at an RT-PCR laboratory in Zoram Medical College (ZMC), while 345 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test and the remaining 45 cases were detected through TrueNat tests.

Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 294, followed by Lunglei (79), Kolasib (36), Mamit (29), Lawngtlai (15), Siaha (5), Champhai (3) aand (1) case each from Serchhip and Khawzawl districts.

Of the 463 fresh patients, 231 patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19 and the remaining 232 were asymptomatic.

The single-day positivity rate is at 9.89 per cent as the 463 fresh cases were detected from 4,679 sample tests, he said.

Mizoram now has 5,896 active cases, while 21,136 people have recovered from the disease including 307 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, State immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said that over 7.2 lakh people have been vaccinated till Saturday.
