Mizoram reports 317 new COVID cases, tally at 13,996 

Mizoram, June 8: 17 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the state to 13,996, an official said on Tuesday.

Of the fresh cases, Aizawl district reported 251, Kolasib (21), Lawngtlai (17). The remaining cases were from Lunglei, Serchhip, Saitual, Siaha, Mamit, and Khawzawl districts.

The single-day positivity rate was at 7.99 per cent as 317 new coronavirus-positive cases were detected from 3,967 sample tests, he said.

Of the fresh patients, 231 have developed symptoms of COVID-19.

Mizoram now has 3,388 active COVID cases, while 208 people were cured of the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,553.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state stood at 55.

According to state immunization officer Dr Lalzawmi, as many as 2,70,606 people have been administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine of which 52,376 have received both doses by Monday.
