Mizoram has vast scope for development in different sectors: CM Zoramthanga

Mizoram, Dec 16: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has expressed that the State has a vast scope for development in an event of laying the foundation stones for as many as 5 projects in the State to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 50.29 crores.

Laying foundation stones for 3 projects – residential sports school, community service centre and smart classroom at West Phaileng village in Mamit district, which are expected to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 34.43 crores, Zoramthanga said that Mizoram could become role model for others in term of development if the residents use their ideas and adjust with the changing times.

“Mizoram has vast opportunities and potential to usher in development in sports infrastructures and various other sectors. It can set a good example for others in terms of development. Mizoram will become not only an economically self-sufficient state but also produce goods for export in near future,” he said.

“We will continue to produce more and more sportspersons in the international and national arena and also explore employment opportunities through innovative ideas. The government would make massive efforts to usher development in different sectors,” the Chief Minister said.

According to an official, the three projects will be funded by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme.

State Sports Minister Robert Romawia and Dampa constituency MLA and Deputy Government Chief Whip Lalrintluanga Sailo also attended the foundation laying ceremony.

Zoramthanga also laid the foundation stone for Public Health Centre to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.89 crore and a Feeding and Pumping Water Supply Scheme to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 12.96 crore, both at Reiek village, about 29 km from Aizawl.

The water supply scheme is expected to supply 55 litres per capita per day (lpcd), which will cater to the needs of over 3500 people daily.
