mizoram fuel

Aizawl, Aug 12: Mizoram food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department ordered rationing on purchase of fuel, petrol and diesel amid shortage due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The fuel stock is being drained out after the slow movement of oil tankers in Hmangkhawthlir and Sethawn areas on Aizawl bypass road after they have been declared as containment zones. The stations must now distribute limited fuel based on the category of vehicle.

For scooters, it has been restricted to 3 litres per vehicle. For other two-wheelers, it is 5 litres. For light motor vehicles, it is 10 litres. 20 litres for a maxi cab, pickup train, 407 or mini truck, gipsy and trucks. And 100 litres for city bus and medium truck.

The order mentioned that vehicles carrying rice bags and other essential commodities will be allowed to get the fuel that runs for to and fro travel. It has been strictly prohibited to draw fuel in containers or gallon barrels from filling stations.

A long line of vehicles has been spotted near fuel stations in Mizoram, Aizawl and other areas since yesterday. Several pumps in the state capital have gone out of stock.
