Most wanted militant of NSCN (R) nabbed along Assam-Manipur border, arms-ammo recovered

Guwahati, May 7: Militant of NSCN nabbed along Assam-Manipur border. Security Forces had apprehended a most wanted militant of NSCN (R) and recovered arms, ammunition in Assam’s Cachar district on Thursday.

Based on intelligence input about the presence of an NSCN (R) leader, the troops of Cachar district police and 37 Assam Rifles ‘C Coy’ launched an operation at Ramgaizang area under Jirighat police station along Assam-Manipur border.

The security personnel had cordoned off the area and apprehended the NCSN (R) leader identified as self-styled Lt Col Johna Rongmai hailing from Churachandpur area in Manipur.

After spot interrogation, the militant identified a spot and the security personnel had recovered arms and ammunition from the spot which were hidden under the earth.

Security personnel had recovered one 9 mm pistol made in the Czech Republic, 10 rounds live ammunition, one Chinese grenade.

The Cachar district police said that the nabbed militant was most wanted and in-charge of the Zeliangrong region of NSCN (R).

Operation is still going on for more recoveries.
