Liquor heist amidst the pandemic

Pakyong, 14 Aug: A massive heist of liquor has been seized by East Sikkim Police amid COVID 19. A truck carrying huge quantity of liquor reportedly is been seized at Rangpo.

The truck was supposed to carry essential life-saving drugs and medicines. Instead, it was transporting liquor without excise department memo causing gross loss to the Government Exchequer.

The truck was carrying 3240 bottles of beer, 1020 bottles of rum and 720 bottles of whiskey.

Liquor seizedĀ  In East Sikkim has been handed over to Excise Department. Truck and the driver have been detained by the police.

People are curious to know how the massive consignment can be executed keeping in mind the COVID regulation. It prompts the involvement of influential figures who do not abide by the COVID prevention guidelines.
