Manipur CM receives 58,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine at airport

Manipur, Jan 14: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh received the consignment of Covid19 vaccine ‘Covishield‘ at Bir Tikendrajit International airport in Imphal.

The first phase of the coronavirus vaccination will begin in the country on January 16 after the PM Narender Modi virtually launch vaccination drive and CO-WIN app on Saturday.

Addressing media persons, the Chief Minister said, “We have got 54,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine which will be distributed to all district headquarters with one private hospital. And the vaccination drive will start on January 16.

CM shares the news on Twitter while posting the image and wrote, “This day marks a new dawn as we received the first consignment of 54,000 doses Covishield vaccine from SII, Pune. I join the nation in thanking Hon’ble PM Shri. @narendramodi and our brilliant scientists for delivering the covid vaccine in record time. Vaccination starts on 16 Jan.

Singh also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for timely distributing COVID19 vaccine across the country and especially in Manipur.

The chief minister said the state has 39,991 health workers, who will receive the vaccine at 246 dedicated centers in phases.

As per the source, along with the virtual launch of the pan-India vaccination drive on Saturday, PM Modi will also officially launch the Co-WIN app on January 16.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain is expected to join the interactive webcast with PM Modi.
