Manipur CM N Biren Singh receives his first dose of COVID19 vaccine

Manipur, April 11: Manipur CM N Biren Singh receives his first dose of COVID19 vaccine today at the launch of ‘tika (vaccination) utsav‘ in Imphal’s Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh took to Twitter to share the news of COVID19 Vaccine and wrote, “Took my 1st dose of #COVID19 vaccine at JNIMS during the launching of #TikaUtsav (11th-14th April 2021). I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Stay safe from the #SecondWave. Together, let us make our State and the Country COVID-19 free.”

 

India on Sunday reported a daily record of over 1.5 lakh new infections as the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak races out of control in the country.

Many states have imposed their own sets of restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, including measures such as localized lockdowns and night curfews.

Cities in Karnataka completed their first-night curfew this morning, which the state announced on April 8.

Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh – two states with poor health infrastructure – may emerge as the next Corona trouble spots as new cases have surged in both in the last seven days.

Yesterday, Union Health Ministry said India is the fastest nation to administer 100 million doses in 85 days as the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossing 10 crores.

The US took 89 days to administer 10 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while China took 102 days to cross the same number, it said.

In terms of the number of daily doses administered globally, India continues to remain at the top with an average of 38,93,288 doses administered per day, the ministry said.

The US had administered 92.09 million doses in 85 days, while China and the UK administered 61.42 million doses and 21.32 million doses, respectively, in 85 days, it said.
