Lockdown extended in Arunachal as cases show a spike in capital city

Lockdown has been extended in Arunachal capital city, Itanagar Capital Complex by a week as Covid-19 positive cases have started showing an alarming upsurge in the area.

An intense lockdown has been announced by the Itanagar Capital administration till July 20.

The lockdown was previously supposed to end on July 13

A total of 462 positive cases have been registered in the state till 14th July with 218 cases from the Capital Region itself. 

Arunachal capital intense lockdown extended for one week more upto 20 July as many positive cases coming among vegetable vendors, police and health workers.

The decision to extend the lockdown was taken during a cabinet meeting summoned by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in regards to the Covid-19 situation in the state capital.

More than three hundred and seventy primary contacts of the seven people who recently tested Covid-19 positive have been traced. Out of the 207 tested negative, 27 tested positive, and the results of 136 are awaited.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, Pema Khandu informed, “Had a virtual Cabinet meeting to assess the #COVID19 situation. To check the spread at the very initial stages, the lockdown of ICR has been extended till 20th July 2020. 

Contact tracing will be intensified during this period, all citizens are requested to strictly follow the SOP

 

In a tweet from his verified Twitter handle he wrote, “Here is the list of teams entrusted with contact tracing and random testing at various locations in Itanagar Capital Region. 

Tracing-Tracking-Testing & precaution is the only way to prevent spread #COVID19.
