COVID19 statewide update:

Assam: Assam is currently the most affected COVID state in the northeast. With the biggest single-day surge of 4,593 cases, Assam’s COVID tally nears 70,000 with 23,762 active cases. 1.43 lakh tests were taken in the state on Wednesday and the positivity rate was 3.2%. There is a huge spike in the number of cases in Jorhat since the past 24 hours. The death figure has increased to 155. Currently, Assam is only enforcing lockdown on weekends and daily night curfews. However, new restrictions are predicted to commence from Sunday.

Arunachal Pradesh: 103 fresh covid cases have been reported since Wednesday out of which 36 are CPMF personnel from Lohit. Total number of cases have risen to 2544 with 846 active ones. 1684 patients have recovered and there have been 3 deaths till now.

It has been made compulsory for legislators, staffs and security personnels of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly to take COVID tests from August 27. The Health Department will make arrangements in the premises of the House to conduct Rapid Antigen Tests for MLAs, Assembly secretariat staff and security guards.

Mizoram: 3 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours taking the state’s tally to 649. There are 319 active cases as of now and 330 patients have recovered. To ramp up the Covid-19 testing ratio, the government has decided to purchase 10,000 RAT kits. A total lockdown has been announced in Aizawl.

Manipur: Lockdown has been extended in Northeast state of Tripura due to COVID, to August 15. One patient has died yesterday with the death toll touching 12. The total number of confirmed cases is now 3,941 with 1,774 active cases. 100 bedded Covid Care Centres have opened in Thoubal district. Imported sanitisers worth Rs. 1.66 crore were seized and 3 were arrested.

Nagaland: 50 new covid cases since Wednesday raise the total number of confirmed cases to 3168 and active cases to 2047. 1113 patients have recovered till now and 8 people have died out of it. Among new cases, 20 are from the armed forces, 28 are through traced contacts and two are returnees from Kohima.

Tripura: A 3-days-old baby dies after swab collection for COVID test in Tripura. The family members blame the negligence of the health workers and doctors who were on duty.

With 182 new fresh cases in the past 24 hours, Tripura reaches 6,497 confirmed cases today with 1,688 active cases. With 110 recoveries recorded yesterday, the total recovery number reaches 4,766. It has caused the death of 44 people till now. The highest number of cases have been reported from Sepahijala.

Sikkim: 17 people have tested positive since yesterday out of which 12 are army personnel.

The total number of cases have risen to 1,071 with 390 active cases. 16 people have recovered in the past 24 hours, so the recovery number has risen to 390. There has been one death till now.

Meghalaya: 37 new covid cases have been reported in the past 24 hours including an inspector of CBI and a doctor. Currently there are 658 active cases and the recovery tally is 527 after 7 people recovered yesterday. 6 people have deceased to it as of now. Orders have been passed by the government to conduct Rapid Antigen Tests in vulnerable areas.
