Itanagar to get airport at Hollongi by mid – 2022: CM Pema Khandu

Arunachal, May 24: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday informed that the work at the proposed site for Itanagar Airport at Hollongi being carried out full swing, to complete the project by mid-2022.

CM Pema Khandu took Twitter and share a glimpse of the site. “Work at the proposed site for Itanagar Airport at Hollongi being carried out full swing to implement the project on time. All #covid19 safety protocols adhered at the worksite. The work is expected to complete by mid-2022 whose foundation was laid by PM @narendramodi in 2019,” Arunachal CM tweet.

Earlier The Airports Authority of India has set November 2022 as the tentative target for completion of the construction of the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, which is about 15km from Itanagar.

The project entails the construction of a new 2300 metre runway, a terminal building measuring 5100 square metres to handle 200 passengers during peak hour, Air Traffic Control Tower and Technical block and Fire station with provisions for commercial activities such as a hotel, convention centre.

The apron will measure 115 metres by 106 metres, suitable for parking two Airbus A321 aircraft. Prime Minister Narendra Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project on 9 February 2019.
