Highest single-day spike of 613 cases in Assam

Assam state tally crosses 61,000 mark

Guwahati, Aug 11: With 2900 new positive cases for COVID-19 Assam on Monday has recorded the highest single-day spike in the number of positive cases for the new virus.

Out of the new cases, 382 cases have been detected in Kamrup (Metro) district alone while 294 cases detected in Kamrup district, 250 cases in Dibrugarh district, 200 cases in Nagaon district.

With the new COVID-19 cases the state tally has now increased to 61,1737.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state has registered 2900 new positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours, which made it the highest single-day spike for positive cases in the state.

On the other hand, the state death toll has increased to 151 after six more persons have died in the state due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

43,586 patients have discharged from hospitals and the state has now 17,997 active COVID-19 positive cases.
