Jharkhand: Head of a nursing institute held for groping students

Jharkhand, March 14: The director of a Jharkhand-based NGO has been arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually exploiting students of nursing institute on the pretext of “testing their tolerance“.

Several woman students of a Jharkhand based NGO-run nursing institute, situated in Khunti district’s Tirla have accused the director of molesting them.

According to the victims, the director of the institute Bablu aka Parvez Alam would grope the students and put his hands under their clothes on the pretext of carrying out tests of their tolerance.

They said that he had targetted several nursing trainees over a long period of time.

The harassment came to light after the students shared their ordeal with a social activist. Based on a verbal complaint given by the students, social activist Lakshmi Bakhla wrote to the Governor.

Following this, a probe was launched under the Block Development Officer (BDO) and a team from the local Mahila Thana visited the institute.

The probe team submitted a report on their findings to Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar and the director of the NGO were arrested.
