Guwahati, August 8: Amid rising COVID-19 positive cases in Assam, Gauhati University is preparing to start regular classes from September 1.

The university authority on Friday has issued a notice for reopening regular classes and examinations.

In the notice, the university authority said that regular classes of Post Graduate (PG) 4th semester, Under Graduate (UG) 6th semester, LLB 6th semester, BA LLB, BBA LLB and B.Com LLB 10th semester will be restarted from September 1.

The examinations of Under Graduate will be started from September 22 and Post Graduate from September 25. All hostels will be reopened from September 1,” said in the notice of Gauhati University.

Assam government has closed all schools, colleges and universities in the state since March 15 to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

 

Assam has witnessed a sharp spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases as the state has so far registered nearly 53,000 cases and 126 patients died due to the deadly virus infections.

According to the state Health Department, 2372 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the state in the last 24 hours.
