Northeast, 11th November: Movement of vehicles at the Assam – Mizoram border stopped again amid tension in the areas along the inter-state border. Local people of Lailapur on the Assam-Mizoram interstate border resisted the movement of trucks to Mizoram.

Mizoram’s police official claimed that till Tuesday evening, a total of 192 vehicles, including 174 heavy trucks, was released from Mizoram and entered Assam.

On Monday, at least 21 trucks with essential commodities and other passenger vehicles with police escort crossed over to Mizoram amid the tension after a 12-day deadlock and also some trucks from the other side of the border entered Assam.

Lalhmangaiha Sailo, People’s Conference Party president of Mizoram alleged that the Centre was giving prejudicial treatment to Mizoram as it did not take concrete steps to lift the blockade.

Assam’s Hailakandi district police have arrested 21 activists of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) for blocking the movement of a freight train to Mizoram at Muhammadpur railway station in the Lala police station area.
