Five more COVID-19 patients discharged from Assam hospitals

Guwahati, April 19: Assam on Sunday had discharged five more COVID-19 patients from two government-run hospitals in Guwahati.

A total of 17 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state so far.

Assam has reported 34 positive cases for COVID-19 and one among the patients was died due to the dreaded virus on April 10.

On Sunday, four COVID-19 patients were discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) and one patient from Guwahati Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in the presence of Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, junior health minister Pijush Hazarika and other government officials.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, in coming a week, few COVID-19 patients will be discharged from the hospitals and the active COVID-19 cases will come down to a single digit.

He further said that, the patients were discharged from the hospitals after their 3-4 successive tests came as negative.

“Today, Assam has discharged five patients from hospitals. Altogether we have 34 COVID-19 patients and unfortunately one patient expired while taking treatment at Silchar Medical College Hospital. With today’s discharge, the total number of discharge patients is 17. So, live patients in our hospitals are 16 now. In the next one week we will able to discharge more patient and it will come down to single-digit soon,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Earlier, 12 other COVID-19 patients were discharged from Sonapur COVID-19 hospital, Goalpara civil hospital, Golaghat civil hospital, Silchar Medical College Hospital and Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital.
