Assam, 13th November: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal purchased earthen lamps from local pottery at Kamakhya Gate for Diwali. The chief minister urged the people to buy earthen lamps instead of using Chinese products to celebrate the festival of light Diwali. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal purchased 100 nos of lamps for Rs 250.
“I urged everyone to celebrate Diwali with earthen lamps. As per PM Modi said Local-Vocal-Global. We have to first be vocal for local so that we can make it global,” said CM Sonowal.
CM has requested the people of the state to support local textile and handicraft items. He also asks people to remember PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal For Local’ campaign while buying or gifting these lamps to clothes during this festival season.
“I bought these lamps so that I can spread the message among all and our own product will be in use. People who make these earthen lamps are very poor. We should help them,” CM added.
PM Modi has also made a fervent appeal to people that they should promote ‘local fro Diwali’ by buying local products this festival season. This will give a new boost to the country’s economy in the long run.
