Busy on a phone call, the nurse gives woman 2 doses of Covid19 vaccine: Report

Uttar Pradesh, April 3: A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat district was given two doses of a Covid19 vaccine at a government centre as the nurse attending her was busy on a phone call. The incident occurred on Saturday at a primary health centre (PHC) in the Akbarpur area of the district.

When the woman inquired the nurse about the two injections, she reprimanded her instead of apologising, reported in media.

On Saturday, Kamlesh Kumari, a woman in her 50s, had gone to a local government health centre to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

As per protocol, she should have been administered one dose of the vaccine today and the next dose after a few weeks, depending on the vaccine she was given.

However, due to the alleged negligence of the nurse giving COVID19 Vaccine attending Kamlesh Kumari, she ended up getting two doses of the vaccine on the same day.

As the news reached the woman’s family members, they created an uproar at the centre and later senior officials including the district magistrate and chief medical officer were informed about the alleged negligence.

According to the source, the family members said due to the double dosage of vaccination, Kamlesh Kumari developed mild swelling in her hand, although, no serious symptoms were reported.
