Guwahati, Oct 18: Border Security Force (BSF) obstructs smuggling attempt at the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
A group of at least ten Bangladeshi smugglers were smuggling huge quantities of Phensedyl or cough syrup from India to Bangladesh when they were intercepted by BSF troops.
The smugglers attacked BSF troops with stones and batons and two jawans were injured in this incident. Three smugglers also sustained injuries and six of them were arrested and handed over to Basirhat police station.

The arrested smugglers have been identified as Littan Ghazi, Golam Mustafa, Babu Ghazi, Rafikul Morol, Bakul Morol and Rabikul Islam. On preliminary interrogation, it is revealed that they had collaborated with Indian smuggler Shabir Mulla.
After the arrests, an intensive search of the area was carried out. Around 250 bottles of Phensedyl, with an estimated value of Rs 50,000, were recovered.
