Bengali actor Payel Sarkar joins BJP ahead of election

Kolkata, Feb 25: Actor Payel Sarkar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Dilip Ghosh, BJP’s Bengal unit chief, in Kolkata on Thursday.

Ahead of the assembly election in Bengal, both the BJP and TMC have been roping in film stars and actors.

Along with actor Payel Sarkar, actor Yash Dasgupta had also joined the BJP in presence of the party’s West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP national vice-president Mukul Roy and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta on Wednesday.

On the same day, cricketer Manoj Tiwary and three Bengali film stars joined the Trinamool Congress in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Actors Raj Chakraborty, Kanchan Mullick, Sayoni Ghosh also joined Mamata Banerjee’s party ahead of the assembly election in West Bengal.

The dates for the Bengal Assembly election are yet to be announced.
