Bengal schools to reopen from February 12 for classes 9 to 12: Partha Chatterjee

Bengal, Feb 2: West Bengal Education Minister, Partha Chatterjee announced that schools in Bengal are to reopen for class 9 to class 12. The schools of West Bengal is all set to reopen from February 12, 2021.

The West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced this news on Tuesday. The schools will reopen after ten months, after being shut due to the coronavirus pandemic. Several other states have also reopened schools this month with proper guidelines.

The state government has decided to reopen the schools across the state with proper covid 19 guidelines. The school administration will be scrutinized based on how effectively they are following the Standard Operating Procedures.

The Minister further added that the schools are being thoroughly sanitized. The schools across WB have remained shut in since March 16, 2020. West Bengal Education Minister said that the schools in the state would reopen. Students and teachers are not at any risk of contracting COVID19.

Earlier on January 17, 2021, Education Minister said, “West Bengal schools will reopen at the appropriate time”.

The school buildings are thoroughly sanitized at regular intervals as per SOPs. Some students and teachers associations have been demanding phase-wise resumption of classes. The government may consider this in taking the decision. The consent of parents will stay mandatory for attending the offline classes. And the physical attendance of the students may not be considered compulsory.

Also, West Bengal Board Exams 2021 for class 10 would begin on June 1, 2021, and end on June 10, 2021. The WB state board exam for class 12 will begin on June 15, 2021, and ends on June 30, 2021.
