Assam, 7th November: The supporters of Badruddin Ajmal welcomed him at the Silchar Airport with ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans. The incident that happened on Friday.

Assam Finance, Health, PWD, and Education Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweet that “Look at the brazenness of these fundamentalists’ anti-national people who are shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD while they welcome MP @BadruddinAjmal. This thoroughly exposes @INCIndia which is encouraging such forces by forging an alliance. We shall fight them tooth & nail. Jai Hind.”

On the other hand, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) claimed that the slogan – “Aziz Khan Zindabad” – was twisted by the BJP to malign the party. Khan is a party MLA who was accompanying Ajmal on Thursday when the alleged incident occurred.

“There is news running on the channel News Live which is owned by Hemant Biswa Sharma. The news says that our supporters and followers were using slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad”. It says that we have joined hands with Badar Uddin Azmal. Our workers and supports were supporting and encouraging the candidates, or MLAs, or organizations who want the ticket. They were using slogans for Badar Uddin Azmal Zindabad etc. So one of our MLA from South Rajesh Khan had a supporter who was taking his name and taking up this issue, they are saying that we are making this Pakistan,” said Aminul Islam, advocate, General Secretary of AUIDF.

“Yesterday also Himanta Biswa Sharma said that Badar Uddin Azmal’s cabinet will be formed in Pakistan or Bangladesh. So, they are constantly trying to link us with Pakistan. We think it’s a political conspiracy and it is formed as they fear the Grand Alliance that we are forming with the Congress, UDF, and other left-wing parties. They are trying to break the alliance. They are picking up various issues over the last few days. Sometimes it’s the Arabic banner, sometimes calling us a Mughal trail, or sometimes regarding the Mia museum, and today they have started with “Pakistan Zindabad“. This process is entirely a political agenda and we want an investigation and inquiry. We demand a judicial inquiry into this and they should nab the culprit. We are clearly opposing that there isn’t anything like this. No one said “Pakistan Zindabad“. There were security personnel, CISF jawans, Assam Police head officials, and how come someone says Pakistan in such a gathering,” Aminul Islam added.

BJP file an FIR against the incident and demanding the resignation of Badruddin Ajmal.

BJP MP Rajdeep Roy said “We are against the slogan raised at Silchar airport in front of Azmal. Will officially register to complain on behalf of BJP. We want to let the people know that who all are there in support of congress. This alliance is the organization of Secrets. Congress and AUIDF want to rule over Assam. Everything is crystal clear now. We want that Azmal should resign from his post.”

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, “Badruddin Ajmal is welcomed at Silchar airport with Pakistan Zindabad slogans. He is someone Congress desperately wants to ally within Assam… Now expect some tone-deaf fact-checkers to tell us that it was ‘Aziz Khan Zindabad’ and not Pakistan while Assam police investigate.”

Vishva Hindu Parishad also files a complaint against the incident and ask the police to take immediate action against the culprits.

Mithun Nath, Secretary of VHP in Cachar district of Assam said while talking to media that “A good crowd of people gather at the Airport to welcome Badruddin Ajmal. But we saw that the crowd was chanted the slogan of “Pakistan Zindabad.” We can’t accept this slogan in India. We have registered an FIR against this and also request the police to take immediate action against the culprits. This is not the first time but earlier also a similar incident happened. If anyone is here who loves Pakistan can happily go there. Police are investigating the matter. I saw a video in which they are chanting the slogan of “Pakistan zindabad”.
