Awareness drive against drug abuse and trafficking in Mizoram

Mizoram, June 27: The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on Saturday conducted an awareness campaign on drugs on the occasion of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ at Serchhip in Mizoram.

The theme this year is “Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives”. The theme promotes combating misinformation and sharing drug-related facts and solutions for treatment to fight against drug abuse.

This was aimed to raise awareness amongst the people about the danger of drug abuse, especially among the youths.

At Serchhip, the event was led by the Medical Officer of the Battalion in which he informed the local public about the risks of consuming drugs and also making an effort to free people from this harmful addiction, combat misinformation in the local language and were also requested to follow the COVID appropriate behaviours.

He explained about the addiction and side effects of mental and physical health, stated a release.

The medical officer of the battalion appealed to the addicts to make an effort to shun the use of narcotic substances and combat misinformation in the local language. He explained to them about drug addiction and its various side effects on mental and physical health.

On the other hand, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles shared an informative video on drug abuse through a social media platform in all villages of Lunglei, Lawngtlai and Saiha districts in Mizoram on the occasion.
