Assam Skill Development Mission reinstituted

Assam, 6th November: Assam Government reinstituted the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) Skill Training Program on 4th November after 8 months of closure due to the lockdown amid the COVID pandemic.

Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department virtually inaugurates the skill training program in the presence of Mission Director of ASDM Anand Prakash Tiwari, and Dr K.K Dwivedi, Commissioner  & Secretary of Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department (SEED).

The ASDM Placement Linked Skill Training Program reinitiated to remove the anxiety among the candidates and to regain the positive atmosphere in the skill training ecosystem so that a large number of students can be benefited from the program. The institute is maintaining all the protocols of COVID.

The centres were launched in December 2017, with a vision to provide Short Term Training to the youth so it helps them to gain employment in the state. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the training centres across the state were closed from March 2020.

To date, Assam Skill Development Mission has trained 1, 18, 585 candidates. For the financial year 2020-21, the total target of 26,600 has been allotted to 396 training Centres, covering 33 districts in 24 Sectors and 83 unique job roles.
