Assam rifles recover heroin in Mizoram

Mizoram, Dec 12: Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 124 grams of Heroin in Tlangsam- Champhai Rd area in Mizoram on 12 December 2020.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and district police, Champhai based on specific information.

The approximate cost of the recovered Heroin is Rs 10,00,000/-. As the Champhai police station seized the contraband item, they also detained one individual.

Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border.
