Assam reports two more COVID-19 deaths, 15 cases detected in the last 24 hours

Guwahati, May 18: Assam reports two more COVID-19 deaths on Monday and registered 15 more positive cases for COVID-19.

The total number of virus fatalities in the state has now increased to four.

On the other hand, the state tally of COVID-19 positive cases surged to 115.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, one person died at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) before detection.

The Assam minister further said that earlier on Monday, a 71-year-old cancer patient returned from Mumbai who was also infected by COVID-19 died at Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

In the last 24 hours, 15 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in the state including seven from Guwahati, four from Golaghat district, two from Cachar district, and one each from Jorhat and Nagaon district.

In Guwahati, out of seven new cases three patients are from the Sarusajai stadium quarantine center and three related to the Aloo Godam case are from the Fancy Bazaar containment zone.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “7 #COVID19 + cases detected from Guwahati. One person had unfortunately died at GMCH before detection. 3 patients are from Sarusajai quarantine center; & rest 3 related to Aloo Godam case are from Fancy Bazaar containment zone.”

Assam has so far registered 115 COVID-19 positive cases and out of them 41 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The state has now 68 active positive cases for COVID-19.
