Assam registers third COVID-19 death case, two more positive cases detect, state tally reaches 104

Guwahati, May 18: Assam registers their third COVID-19 death case in the state on Monday, and two more positive cases for the virus.

With the new cases the state tally has now surged to 104.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, a 71-year-old cancer patient returned from Mumbai who was also infected by COVID-19 died at Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

“It is the third death case registered in the state due to COVID-19. On the other hand, two persons from Golaghat district have been tested positive for COVID-19,”

Earlier, two positive cases for COVID-19 were detected in Jorhat and Nagaon district on Monday.

On Sunday, the state had registered nine COVID-19 positive cases including a 9-year-old boy.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “Two persons have tested #COVID19 + in Golaghat. Total cases 104, Recovered 41, Active cases 58, Deaths 3, Migrated 2.”

The state has so far reported 104 COVID-19 positive cases including 39 cases from Kamrup (Metro), 12 cases from Cachar district, 11 cases from Golaghat district, six cases each from Morigaon, Goalpara districts, five cases each from Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Jorhat districts, four cases from Nalbari district, two cases each from Karimganj and Kamrup districts and one each from South Salmara, Lakhimpur, Hailakandi, Sonitpur, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar and Nagaon district.

The Assam Health minister further said that, the state Health Department has so far tested around 40,000 samples for COVID-19 across the state.

Out of them two patients died and 39 others were discharged from hospitals.

One COVID-19 patient was migrated to Bihar.

The state has now 58 active positive cases for COVID-19.
